You may remember that two years ago I got on a fitness kick. It only lasted a few months, but I managed to lose 20 pounds, going from 239.6 to 219.6. For some reason, I quit after that and gained back 15 of those pounds.
Today I hit a new milestone. I can’t count it officially because it’s not an official weigh in day, but this morning I weighed in at 218.9.
That means I have officially hit my lowest weight since college.
I don’t expect it to stick around instantly, given the way I’ve been fluctuating. But I have hope! I am definitely heading out of the 220s.
In other news, I learned how to deadlift today.
I was intimidated and scared. Not only was I afraid I would hurt my back (I didn’t), but I just couldn’t visualize myself doing something that in my mind only super fit body builders do. Silly me! It’s just lifting. It’s using weight to change your body.
I did one set of reps with just a 30 pound bar. Then I did three sets (or maybe 2? I can’t remember. It was heavy.) of 12 and 10 reps with fifty pounds on the bar. That means I lifted EIGHTY POUNDS.
Like a boss.
