I’ve been struggling a bit. The protein shakes have just gotten to me. It’s hard for me to get them down without feeling nauseated. So I’ve been trying to get my protein in with real food – which is damn hard when you can barely finish 1/4 cup of shredded chicken.
In fact, I was just lamenting on BariatricPal that I find myself eating more than is comfortable just to get my protein in.
Enter Panera’s Chicken and Broccoli Cheddar Orzo.
I found it at Harris Teeter and thought it would work if I added Genepro to it, though I was a bit hesitant at the carbs from the orzo. The entire bowl is supposed to be a single serving – wowzer! My new mini me can’t eat that much, so a single serving bowl became three servings! I added two scoops of Genepro (adding 60g protein) to the whole bowl, and then divided it into 3 servings.
And I could easily eat one serving and feel satisfied, but not overly full. That’s the first time I can remember that happening since I started eating real food!
Each of my servings came out to:
- 211 calories
- 9g carbs
- 10g fat
- 32g protein
